Florida Tow Truck Insurance Requirements

Tow truck insurance is a type of insurance for tow truck drivers and towing owner operators. The rivers that work for the tow truck company must have a valid driver's license and be at least 18 years old. Insurance requirements vary by state and the type of towing done (i.e. roadside assistance, Repo, 24 hour operations).

The following are some common requirements that most tow truck drivers will need in order to get an insurance policy:

-A valid driver's license

-Proof of citizenship or lawful presence

-Proof that the vehicle is insured, either through their own policy or through the company they work for

-Proof that they are at least 18 years old

Tow truck insurance is required by law in the state of Florida. The law states that tow truck operators are required to carry at least $10,000 in liability coverage for any vehicle that they tow.

Tow truck insurance coverage is different from regular car insurance because it covers the damage or injuries to other vehicles as well as property damage while On-Hook. If you are driving a tow truck, you need to make sure that your insurance will cover these damages and injuries.

Towing is an essential part of the automotive industry, and tow truck drivers are responsible for transporting vehicles to a safe location when they break down. Towing is also required by law in some cases, such as when cars are parked illegally or obstructing traffic.

Tow truck drivers must have their own insurance coverage to cover their liability and damages that they may cause while on the job.

In Florida, tow truck drivers are required to maintain liability insurance with a minimum amount of $100,000 per occurrence for property damage and $300,000 per occurrence for bodily injury or death. They must also have uninsured motorist coverage with a minimum amount of $100,000 per accident and $300,000 per occurrence for bodily injury or death. Typically the best option is a combined single limit of $300,000 or more for the property damage and liability limits. For Tow companies in Florida UM/UIM or Under Insured / Uninsured coverage should have the same limits of $300,000 or more.

In the state of Florida Tow Truck operators should consider having a combined single limit of $1,000,000 to avoid the financial cost of many unplanned events and accidents because of the size of the population in Florida. Lions Rock Insurance recommends a minimum of $500,000 combined single limit for both coverages. Another coverages to consider as a Tow company in Florida would be the On-Hook limit.
